Computer woes

I'm sitting here trying to find out how this borrowed computer works, as my died in the middle of a sentence a couple of days ago. I miss my photos and I miss my addresses and I miss just about everything..... I've ordered a new computer and know I'll be rather frustrated until I learn how to use it and Vista that comes with it. But I won't get it until after Easter so until then there won't be any photos.

  1. Oh I know what a dreadful experience this is, Margaretha. When it happened to me, I promised myself that I would back up everything on memory sticks as I worked but I lapsed after only a few weeks.

I have Vista on my laptop but prefer my old PC with its Windows XP. Perhaps I should work harder at getting to know Vista better. I will be interested to know how you find it.

  2. I am so sorry this happened, but wish you every success with your new computer. It takes time to get used to a new one. And I'm especially sorry if you have lost all your photos!

  3. I know how you feel! I've had computer problems for a couple of months, on and off. My printer still won't work properly - it will photocopy but not scan any documents. Oh, they are wonderful ... when they work! Hateful little beasties when they don't!

  4. Maureen,
Yes, don't we all promise ourselves to be organized and tidy - and to save often - when we get a new computer! It will be interesting to see how long I can live up to that when I get the new one. But I do have most things saved - what I grieve is that a memory stick swallowed a couple of months photos. When you can't trust either the memory sticks nor the computer, what do you do?
I have no choice but to learn Vista - so I better do it fast!

    Kristi,
I hope they can rescue what's on the hard disc - they though they would, but couldn't promise anything.
Yes, it is so annoying to get used to a new computer - so I hope this new one will last forever!

    Margaret,
It's almost scary how fast we get dependent on our computers..
