P.S.

How dear to this heart are the scenes of my childhood.
When fond recollections presents them to view!

This time I hope the dial up from the island works — even if I pay for every second I'm on-line it would make it possible for me to add photos to my blog and check mail while there.
I don't mind living without a computer — the problems start when I'm back in cyber space, sorting, deleting and answering mails takes quite a while if you're away from the computer more than a couple of days.

Two weeks in Paradise

Back after two lovely and lazy weeks in the sun — and the rain.
I couldn't manage to get on-line from the island so I got plenty of time for reading and doing nothing.
My librarian recommended Jacqueline Winspear's "Maisie Dobbs" and "Birds of a Feather", so I brought them to the island. Two books I never would have read if she hadn't put them in my hands. I did enjoy them though even if I at times got rather irritated, as the translation isn't very good. I wish I had read them in English.

As Simon (at Stuck in a Book) has talked so well of A. A. Milne I decided to give him a chance — again. I've tried to read "The Two" in Swedish many years ago but didn't like it, so I tried some of his other works last week but am afraid that I don't share Simon's enthusiasm for Mr. Milne.

Some time ago Nan (at http://lettersfromahillfarm.blogspot.com/) wrote about the magazine "Slightly Foxed" (http://www.foxedquarterly.com/) — I ordered a trial issue and have enjoyed every word in it.

Packing

I'm running around trying to be efficient while the sad truth is that I hardly know what I'm doing.
Piles are growing high on the floor, lists are growing very long in the computer and heaps of clothes are everywhere. We're going to the island in a week. Two weeks in my paradise on earth.
It takes a lot of planning since there are no shops on the island and we have to carry everything up to the cottage from the boat. Well, that's a qualified truth - our neighbor’s kind and strong teenagers meet us when we arrive and before we are half way up they are on their way back after carrying all our stuff up to our cottage. Food for body and spirit for two weeks — it is surprisingly heavy. As I can't get on-line from there I'll lose myself in real books.
But also just sit and look out over the Baltic Sea.
