AUNTIE'S SKIRTS

Whenever Auntie moves around,
Her dresses make a curious sound;
They trail behind her up the floor,
And trundle after through the door.

Some years ago I borrowed "A Child's Garden of Verses" with beautiful watercolor illustrations — unfortunately I can't remember the name of the artist. I think it was printed in the sixties, which is much too late to be found at Gutenberg. Just for fun I chose one verse and looked at the different illustrations — which are not all that different!

  1. I love bessie peaces work. When my girls were babies, prints of her sleeping babies hung in the nursery.
