Because I don't have the right equipment.
Nan was right, high heals and lipstick is not Margaretha! I can't even walk in anything but flat shoes or still better, bare feet. And if I happen to find any kind of make up it's probably antique and could sell for a fortune at Sotheby's. I've never used lipstick but I had a short — very short — period when I tried to look grown up and lady like, so I wobbled around on high heals and wore mascara and eyeliner. It didn't take me long to realize that I didn't succeed, so why bother being uncomfortable when I could be myself without struggle.

As you remember net petticoats, I think we are in the same age group. I think we all looked a great deal younger than today's teenagers do but I find we also looked younger than our mothers did at the same age. I am going to look out some photographs to check my idea, then I must work out a theory to go with it.
SvaraRaderaYour picture is lovely.
Yes, you're right. Part of it probably lies in the genes though - my 92 years old mother has just started to turn grey and most people think she's 15 years younger than she is. Probably because she never has tried to look like every body else.

I love those earrings - were they clip-ons? And do you still have them?
SvaraRaderaYes, I still have those ear clips. I bought them in Finland just a few days before the photo were taken. They were green, at the same time I bought another pair with wood pearls that were purple and for pierced ears - heavens know why as I don't like purple... Today I never wear earrings - or any kind of jewelry.
