We bought some local grown vegeatbles yesterday — it's amazing how much better those "real" vegetables taste than the so called vegetables that we buy in the store.
I don't grow any vegetables in our gardens for two reasons, even if I love to eat homegrown food I'm more interested in growing flowers and second I don't have the strength to grow things that needs my attention. It is quite enough to prevent the house from disappearing under the weeds.

The beets were already cooking in the pressure cooker, and the fennel was in pieces in a salad when I took this picture so you have to imagine them.

  1. I grew lettuce and tomatoes on my patio this year. Just two things that hardly needed my attention to see how the whole gardening thing would go. The first time I picked the lettuce, I was shocked at how wonderful it tasted!!

  2. Thank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I like the name of your blog (as I'm fond of tea!) and I agree with you, there is always time to have a little break with a cup of tea (preferably in the garden ;-) !!). Enjoy your teatime!

  3. Thanks for your visit. I really like your blog. Vegetables don't need a concentration camp, they are decorative in their own right. A tomato bush does very well among the roses, spinach and beetroot leaves are decorative and useful as well, onions keep the aphids off roses, and a lettuce here and there is as pretty as decorative kale. God did not separate plants into useful and decorative so why should we?

  4. Arija,
Yes I agree, but my problem is that I don't even have the energy to care for the decorative plants. I'm happy if I can mow the lawns and remove parts of the weed every now and then. Not to mention that I try to pick the berries and fruit - and do something with it before it perish.
