Crocuses


Gold flame and silver flame,
Burning through the mould,
In the east wind's scornful breath,
When the world's a-cold:
Fiery from the earth's red heart
Leap they to the light,
Gold flame and silver flame
Crocus yellow and white.

    That's one of the best 'spring' poems I've read. I really like the words. 'a-cold' 'leap' 'scornful' - really great. Thank you.

    I like it too – but haven’t been able to figure out who May Byron was/is. There is a “Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens” retold by May Byron in 1945 – and a recipe book: “Simple Fare for Sick Folk”, and the “Jam Book”. Children’s books, poetry and recipes – why not?
