It would be interesting to study all of the pictures of women at windows that have been published on the various blogs. I find that in some pictures the window suggests opportunity and adventure or dreaming, in others there is a sense of imprisonment or restriction. I really find the whole theme fascinating.
Yes, it is a fascinating theme. I've been wondering how much I can stretch it - there are some wonderful paintings where you don't see the window, only how the light is coming through it. Maybe I show a "non-window" window painting tomorrow. Unless a painting isn't done out of doors there are almost a window somewhere letting in the light, if it isn't at night with a fire or lamp. The window as a metaphor is also interesting - Gutenberg has a handful books with window in the title. Especially in illustrations I can feel that the window has more of a decorative function rather than having a particular meaning. Margaretha
What is she thinking about? No book to read, just deep in thought. There's a stillness I don't think many people now ever, ever have. Those who do, are lucky - like you, I think? On your island?

SvaraRaderaYes, I lead a very quiet life - and like it. Somebody who likes a faster life might not find this picture so peaceful.
