And people there haven't changed either, they still are a little slowly but open-minded and nice. We are staying there in the family chalet, an old, little wooden house which once belonged to the father of one of our famous Swiss writers (Dürrenmatt). I would write you a postcard if you gave me your address.
BarbaraBarbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02062381754017907653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7208261623835021066.post-92022656665209659952009-08-02T10:00:01.149+02:002009-08-02T10:00:01.149+02:00Barbara,

Yes, I know it has changed even if I haven't been there since 1996 (I think). But the mountains are the same - and it is the mountains I love. Do you have a house there?
I guess families were much larger in times gone, especially if you counted servants.
I'd love to hear more about your baking when you're back into fall routines.
Have a wonderful week in Adelboden and say hello to the mountains from me!
Margaretha
who wish she could join you thereemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01463254055979575950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7208261623835021066.post-36793827380253852432009-08-02T08:34:10.572+02:002009-08-02T08:34:10.572+02:00I sometimes wonder how big the family eating those...I sometimes wonder how big the family eating those cakes have been, when reading old recipes. There are many "favourite" cake recipes which I bake (I love to bake), but during summer I prefer the "light" kitchen. We've had so hot days recently that I even didn't enjoy very much my daily hot cups of English tea, which I usually do. But the coming week we are going to "our island" in the mountains (by the way in Adelboden which however has changed a bit in the last thirty years!).
Summergreetings,
BarbaraBarbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02062381754017907653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7208261623835021066.post-58680550877264578902009-07-19T21:24:48.268+02:002009-07-19T21:24:48.268+02:00Sounds as our cakes are similar - I think that my ...Sounds as our cakes are similar - I think that my recipe asks for two tablespoons flour, but I always forget it, and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Margarethaemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01463254055979575950noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7208261623835021066.post-22619197251920512612009-07-19T02:05:39.676+02:002009-07-19T02:05:39.676+02:00no chocolate in my recipe, and little flour. My favorite cake in the world is Hungarian toasted hazelnut torte. What is yours? Or is choosing too difficult? The receipts sound interesting even if they don't tempt our modern, modest tastes.monixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16631194815411019266noreply@blogger.com
